Bio:

Jonathan is Chief Financial Officer of MGM Resorts, International (NYSE: MGM), the world’s premier gaming and entertainment company. Prior to joining MGM, Jonathan served as Chief Executive Officer of Extended Stay America. Before being named President and CEO in 2017, Jonathan served as Extended Stay America’s Chief Financial Officer for nearly three years and Chief Operating Officer for two years preceding that.

Mr. Halkyard was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NV Energy from 2012 through September 2013 and ultimately led the sale of the company to MidAmerican Energy Holdings, a Berkshire Hathaway company. Mr. Halkyard held several key operations and finance positions at Caesars Entertainment (formerly Harrah’s Entertainment) over a 13-year period, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance for Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, and Assistant General Manager of Harrah’s Las Vegas. As CFO, he led the company through a $30 billion sale in 2008 to an investor group led by TPG and Apollo Management.

Mr. Halkyard is a Director of Shift4 Payments, Inc. (NYSE: FOUR), where he chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Nomination & Governance Committee. He is a member of the International Center for Responsible Gaming Advisory Council, a group of distinguished leaders in the gaming industry who advise the ICRG. Mr. Halkyard is Chairman of the Board of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts and Trustee Emeritus of the Economic Club of Las Vegas. Mr. Halkyard served as Chairman of the Board of the Red Cross of Southern Nevada, was on the Executive Board of the United Way of Southern Nevada and the Board of the Meadows School.  He was a founding Trustee of The Economic Club of Las Vegas, and, for five years, was on the Executive Committee of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Halkyard is an instrument-rated private pilot. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School. Jonathan and his wife Kari reside in Henderson, NV and have three sons.
